Master Bedroom Refresh

We've been living in Atlanta for a little over 3 years and now we've finally updated our master bedroom and bathroom. I have to be honest, all the updates I wanted have not happened yet but a new coat of paint and beautifully framed photos by Nations Photo Lab can do wonders for a room. Here's what the room looked like before:

Here's after:

We updated the color of the walls to make the room cozier and Sherwin Williams was our go-to. Our room color is now Ellie Gray SW 7650 and not only is the quality amazing but if you have kids, you need a satin finish. To remove any accidents is so much easier than with a generic flat paint, which we had before. Plus the paint made our current furniture pop, which was a win for us and our wallet since we didn't have it in the budget yet to change it out. In case you are wondering our bedroom set is from Rooms To Go and its the Sofia Vergara collection (its no longer available but this is a similar look). It lasted five years and is still going strong!

The items that made the room feel complete were the newly framed photos we received from Nations Photo Lab. These images of Carolina's newborn shoot are two of our favorites. They are by a local photographer named Stephanie Guynn in Georgia and we decided to get them printed at a size of 16 x 20 with a white frame with white mat insert. Nations Photo Lab made the process so easy and when they arrived it was exactly what I had imagined. They offer canvas, metal, and traditional framed prints as well as a variety of other photo gifts and albums. All professional quality with us as the consumer in mind. Their goal is to print our favorite moments and transform them into unforgettable pieces of art. They did just that and more for our master bedroom and if you want to order your own pieces use our code BAMBINA5 for a special discount at checkout.

So if you're looking to spruce up a room in the house that seems a bit blah, these are a few of our quick tips to give it a much-needed refresh without breaking the bank:

  • Change the color to a satin finish (if you have little ones, you'll thank me later) that makes your furniture pop.

  • Frame special memories (births, weddings, family photos, engagements, etc) in key places around your room. We partnered with Nations Photo Lab to frame these beautiful photos from our newborn shoot with Carolina. They were so well done and best of all remind us of a very special time when our family welcomed our newest member. Use the code BAMBINA5 for a special discount off your order, plus they have some great promotions right now!

  • Reorganize and remove the clutter. We had a lot more items hanging on the walls that didn't need to be there so we focused on what was most important and made sure to clean up our nightstands. It's insane how much you can accumulate over time.

  • If you are organizing a master bedroom, don't forget about the master bath! Adding in some new rugs, sink organizers, and a fresh coat of paint can make it feel new again. If you want to change out the hardware on your cabinets, paint them a new color or like we did remove any bulky wall items and replace them with simple hooks, that's another way to add a new look.

  • Bring in some of your favorite calming scents. In my case, I added my favorite lavender scent to our bathroom and created my own pamper basket for the tub.

  • Lastly, get rid of all distractions. We actually made the decision to remove the TV from our master bedroom. Not an easy decision, but it has helped us unwind and relax. Instead, we decided to add some new reads to our nightstand, as you can see from the photo below I am reading the Enneagram Type 2 book by Beth McCord!

I hope you enjoyed my quick bedroom makeover and stay tuned for a few more DIYs and updates to our houses coming real soon.
