Mom's First Vacation Alone and Away!

This past weekend, I was invited to join my moms group on their annual Mother's Day trip to the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. I had never been before and decided it was time for me to getaway on my first ever girls trip since Sofia was born. This would be the first time I left Sofia alone with Ricky for more than one night and let me tell you I was excited!!!

I knew my husband would do a great job but I was really looking forward to some much needed alone time. We left on a Friday afternoon, and drove up to a beautiful cabin that one of the moms in our moms group lent to us for the weekend (thanks again Whitney!). It was exactly what I had imagined. A beautiful wooden log cabin in the peaceful mountains. Plus, the Blue Ridge Mountains is only 1 hour and 30 minutes away from my house in Atlanta which makes for a perfect vacation away.

After arriving, we all settled in to the three story cabin, fully furnished with an amazing basement, entertainment room, spacious kitchen, beautiful mountain views and best of all a hot tub. Let's just say we were all ready for a much needed weekend of quiet and relaxation. Our first night started around the table eating and laughing, chatting about how our week had gone and what we looked forward to get out of this trip. We then opened a bottle of wine and made our way to the outdoor hot tub and talked all about the fun we were looking to have the next day at the spa and winery.

I have to say the best part of this trip was waking up to the sunlight instead of a baby crying or your little one calling you over the monitor. It was surreal how much I had missed the quiet and the ability to take "me" time in the morning, instead of being rushed. I helped cook breakfast on Saturday morning, and then we were ready to head out to the spa.

Serenity Mountain Spa is amazing and I recommend it to anyone who goes out to Blue Ridge for a moms weekend or even a romantic weekend with the husband. We tried their Himalayan Salt Cave for 45 mins. It was the most relaxing nap I have had in over two years. Their zero gravity chairs, luxurious blankets, sea themed music and ceiling stars were beyond perfect. Check it our for yourself below. (Fun Fact: the salt therapy room feels like you have been out by the ocean for three days and is filled with tons of salt and salt rocks)

After a super relaxing session we made our way to Blue Ridge Downtown for lunch and shopping. They have cutest shops that you can't find anywhere else and the food is amazing. If you love BBQ this is your place!

We decided to sneak in a stop at the local Serenberry Vineyards, while on our way home for just in time for their 3pm tasting. I have never been to winery before, much less wine tasting, so I was super excited. Even though I am 17 weeks pregnant the tastings give you the option to try small samples of 4-7 different local wines. I tried four for only $4 and it was so much fun! Best of all we had the opportunity to try their brand new strawberry wine which was amazing. For anyone who loves sweet wines like I do, definitely check them out at the link above.

After a fun afternoon, we headed back to the cabin to get ready for dinner and a night on the town, which was a great adventure we wont be forgetting.

The next morning, we all awoke to another breakfast together and then started packing to head back home. The few days we were there definitely went by quick, but they were filled with lots of amazing talks, laughter and memories we will keep with us always. Plus, on our way home we stopped at one of my favorite Georgia locations, Mercier Orchards and picked up a few essentials - freshly baked apple pies, fruit slushes, apple cider and more!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post about my first girls weekend in Georgia. It wasn't easy leaving the family behind but I came back a much better version of myself, refreshed and ready to take on the week ahead. I am so blessed to have met this amazing group of women and look forward to many more mom trips ahead.
