Yes Day! Here's How We Celebrated It

In case you’re wondering what we're talking about, this day is simply called Yes Day and it's the best day of the year. Amy Krouse Rosenthal's wrote the book about one fun day where parents say yes to their kids for 24 hours. Sending them on a journey into their wildest wishes. Yes Day! captures the excitement of being a kid.

We decided to join in on the fun and after seeing Jennifer Garner share her experience about this super fun day. But before you can start Yes Day, there are a few things you should know.

  1. Have you ever realized that many times we are saying "no" to our kids. Yes, Day is an opportunity to spend time together as a family and have fun while saying "Yes" to things we normally wouldn't.

  2. Yes Day does have rules and each family can create their own. Here's an example of the rules we went off of...

YES Day Rules:

  • YES Day has a set timeframe (only 24 hours long)

  • YES Day has to be about experiences you enjoy together

  • YES Day can't involve anything dangerous

  • YES Day needs to have an agreed-upon budget (helps teach the kids)

  • Your request can only be valid for that day (No asking for a puppy or new pet lol)

  • You still have to share on YES Day

  • You still have to ask mom or dad for permission

Here's what our YES Day looked like for us

“YES you can have donuts for breakfast.” “YES you can stay in your pjs all day.” “YES, you can play your favorite card game in the morning.” “YES, we can race around the neighborhood.” “YES, we can have our nails done." “YES, we can have an outdoor picnic for lunch.” “YES, we can have a snack in the pool.” “YES, you can wear mommy's makeup .” “YES, we can play outside for as long as you want”

“YES, we can go for a family walk." "YES, we can do a firepit and cook s'mores." “YES, you can have pizza for dinner.” “YES, you can stay up past your bedtime and watch Yes Day on Netflix." “YES, you can have sweets before bed.” "YES, you can have a bubble bath."

We definitely recommend trying Yes Day for yourselves. Best of all it can be any day you want throughout the year. If you need some inspiration on what to do, here are a few ideas below from Champion Your Parenting!
